Now
Inspired by nownownow.com this is a brief summary of what I am doing now in my career and practice as a technologist.

Work
I have been at Zühlke since 2015, building software for a wide variety of clients. Right now I’m leading a feature team as we prepare to deliver a long-running project for a medical device—a domain which my last few projects have all been more or less involved with.
Writing and Speaking
I would like to get back onto the conference circuit in 2026. All I have really managed in the last few years has been lightning talks. There’s a lot to speak about.
I am aiming to write more articles for this blog in 2025, some around more “woolly” engineering-tangential and ethics topics. Specifically, there’ll be an opportunity to go into more detail on my last lightning talk at iOSDevUK, on the Post Office Horizon scandal—once the public inquiry report is finished.
I have become interested in the topic of digital gardens, and may re-tool this website or supplement it with a kind of public notebook in future.
Side Projects
I am half-working on Unspool, an image tagging app for the Mac aimed at film photographers, but have had limited time to work on this… and limited motivation on account of my film camera breaking down and needing a service—although I now have another camera 😈
I have also written my first PHP in over 10 years to create a simple ‘days since’ block for WordPress sites. I’m not especially proud of this code, it has no tests and I’m not a fan of JavaScript or PHP’s typing systems at the best of times. But—it’s also very few lines of code, so there’s very little to go wrong.
I am also toying with the idea of a simple app for the Apple Watch to resolve my frustrations with the stock Workout app every time I go for a swim.
